Essie Game Theory Nail Polish From The Game Theory Collection 2019 Review and Comparisons

Essie has recently released the Game Theory limited edition collection, which is inspired by a high stakes game of love. The collection consists of six nail polishes and we have four of those shades in the UK. All of the shades are in a new soft matte formula, with a low lit pearl effect that gives nails the look of luxurious plush velvet. The six shades are sandy beige nude, soft pink, deep burgundy red, raisin plum with red undertones, sapphire blue and bright grape purple (we don’t have the blue or purple in the UK)

The first swatch photo you will see is the nail polish with no top coat, so you can see the matte finish. The second photo is with a top coat.

Essie Game Theory is described as a raisin plum with red undertones. It has shimmer running through this polish. I think this is a beautiful shade and the kind of shade I love to wear in Autumn and Winter, which is when I wear darker shades like this.

As this is a matte formula, it does start to dry quite quickly and I don’t find I have to wait as long in between coats either.

It has a lovely formula, which I found easy to work with. It is one of those polishes, where you need to be careful with application, as you can see your brush strokes.

On the first coat it coats well, on the second coat it builds the colour up even more and gets it fully opaque, but you can see some brush strokes. The shimmer can be seen with no top coat on.

I don’t mind this polish in the matte finish, but for me personally I just think it looks more beautiful with a top coat on. It really brings out the colour and shimmer so much more. I find the shimmer really catches the light. Also the top coat covers some of those brush strokes up as well.

Both of these polishes are not a matte formula. Essie Life Of The Party is a red shimmer polish and Zoya Maryann is a pink purple shade with gold shimmer in.

    1. I think with the top coat, it just really brings the colour and shimmer out so much more.
